Top Trends Driving Enterprise Mobility for 2022

As a direct result of the pandemic, the change to employees working remotely has meant that many office-based organizations have found new ways to use and adopt mobile technologies.

This trend is likely to continue, so we ask: what mobile technologies are the most likely to impact organizations in the coming new year and going forward? 

If you are an Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) leader, or managing a (sales) team using certain software, you need to have your finger on the pulse and know what’s coming in terms of mobile technology trends. 

Understanding trends not only in technology, but in how your employees are going to work in the future can help you shape how your tech stack can help them be more productive consistently. 

 

What emerging technologies will shape the future of mobility? 


According to Gartner®, the trends are: “Continuous endpoint experiences; the move to 5G; enterprise mobility post 2021; visual intelligence; Health, wellness, compliance and safety technologies; workplace analytics augmented/virtual/mixed reality and frontline worker technologies and wearables .”

Clearly, the increasing tendency for workforces to work remotely today, has meant that the main way that employees interact with prospects, customers but also colleagues is technology based. Naturally, this impacts the overall employee experience. 

Most of the forthcoming technologies already exist, such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) however they will be far easier and quicker to implement, enabling your business to be even more competitive. 

According to the Gartner® research, leaders “focused on digital workplace infrastructure and operations must integrate mobile requirements into the organization’s key strategic initiatives by forming a digital workplace I&O team that is responsible for endpoints, productivity suites and collaboration software supporting all aspects of in-office, remote hybrid and mobile work styles.” Also, “pilot and showcase AR and VR applications by demonstrating their business impact for frontline worker use cases.”

An example of one of these trends is continuous endpoint experience, which uses cloud-enabled and intuitive operational systems (OS) management. The devices used by the organization are subsequently enrolled in a unified endpoint management (UEM) solution.

 

Trends driving enterprise mobility in 2022: Gartner

Overall, Gartner sees “an increased use of mobile application management (MAM) tools and a reduction in fully enrolling devices in mobile device management (MDM). This is due primarily to mainstream adoption of Software as a Service (SaaS) cloud office platforms and IT admins focusing more on protecting data, apps and identity to enable bring your own scenarios.”

 

SaaS tools offer greater transparency into the employee experience

More and more companies see the benefits of implementing SaaS solutions, due to its multitude of use cases, and this is also true especially for sales enablement. Within the space of sales enablement, such tools can not only manage the sales rep’s interactions with prospects/customers, but also track sales rep’s performance and content interactions (plus much more).

Gartner continues, “SaaS-based [...] tools are aggregating workplace analytics data to offer greater transparency into the employee experience across the endpoint estate. These tools also are applying machine learning (ML) to their massive datasets to catalyze insight-driven automation.”

The key takeaways of the Gartner research are the recommendations put forward by Gartner for digital (operational and IT) leaders focused on creating and maintaining a more mobile workforce, including improved productivity.
